Break the stigma of talking about money
LAS VEGAS, NV, April 28, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ — The Financial Literacy Film Festival goes live in Las Vegas on April 30, 2023 at the Taverna Costera, presented by S P C K R F T. The festival aims to break the stigma of talking about money by bringing together creative people and finance industry professionals to produce educational and entertaining bite-size media content. This year’s star of the festival is the short film ‘GUNPOINT’, a dark comedy written and directed by highly respected filmmaker Mr. Bill Marsilii.
According to the Mind over Money survey by Capital One and The Decision Lab, 77% of Americans report feeling anxious about their financial situation. The supporters of the #FinLitFilmFest seek to lower that number. Festival co-founder and U.S. Army veteran George Ohan says, “People are hurting financially these days, and they don’t know what to do. Most people don’t even have a starting point to ask the right questions. We create a space where regular people, meet other regular people who happen to know a lot about money. It’s been helping families worldwide.”
This is the year of the Independent Filmmaker and the motto is “Creativity is Currency”, which was offered as inspiration to the creative community by the co-founder of the Fin Lit Film Fest, Mr. Carlos Anzures. Also, the team at Be Financially Informed and Mr. David Foxx all agree that using entertainment or EDUtainment can help people realize that we are not alone in our financial journey. The event is blessed by Keynote speaker, Emmy Award © recipient filmmaker and co-owner of Indie Film Factory, Mr. Kelly Schwarze.
“The idea of using anecdotes or stories to inspire people to pursue more financial education is a great concept. Planners such as myself are happy to help break the stigma behind talking about money,” Martin Sevillano a South Florida banker said.
‘Teach. Coach. Mentor’ program which is at the heart of the Financial Literacy Film Festival, is also available for schools and Summer classes with in-person instructors.
Mr. George Ohan is available for interviews.
