The North Carolina trial court veteran will head up the criminal division of the firm’s Lincoln County office.
LINCOLNTON, NC, November 08, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ — The law office of Teddy, Meekins & Talbert, P.L.L.C., is pleased to announce that criminal defense attorney Shannon Aldous has joined the law firm and will lead the firm’s Lincoln County Criminal Division. Ms. Aldous joins former District Court Judge and Family Law Attorney Meredith Shuford in the firm’s new office located at 908 Dontia Drive, Lincolnton, N.C. that was opened in March of 2021. Ms. Aldous will continue defending clients facing serious felony and misdemeanor charges. She will also handle all traffic matters, including impaired driving, reckless driving and speeding violations.
“I love trying cases. Two of my favorite words in the English language are “Not Guilty”, said Ms. Aldous. However, some of my best work as a trial lawyer involves reaching a fair resolution that mitigates the punishment for a client that has made a serious mistake. I do not believe any of my clients should forever be defined by the worst mistake they’ve ever made and it’s my job to help them navigate through a very difficult period in their lives, and I love my job.”
Ms. Aldous had operated her own law practice since 2009, representing clients in criminal and civil cases in Boone and Charlotte. She was the President of the 24th Judicial District Bar which covers Boone and the surrounding judicial district counties from 2014-2015. A veteran trial lawyer, Ms. Aldous is a zealous advocate in the courtroom and is known for her professionalism and personal “hands on” approach to problem solving. She provides clients with an after-hours phone number and prides herself on making herself easily accessible to her clients. Ms. Aldous is well respected by local prosecutors, judges, bailiffs and other Court personnel in all of the counties where she has practiced.
“We are extremely fortunate to have a seasoned trial lawyer like Shannon Aldous join our criminal litigation team,” said David Teddy, one of the founding partners of Teddy, Meekins & Talbert, PLLC. “Our firm has been around for nearly 30 years and Shannon brings a wealth of knowledge and trial experience to the Lincoln County community and surrounding areas.”
Ms. Aldous began her legal career in Florida and also holds a Florida Bar License. Before finding her niche in criminal defense, Ms. Aldous practiced Social Security Disability and Workers’ Compensation law, initially representing injured workers, before transitioning to insurance defense. This foundational experience provides meaningful insights that apply to her criminal defense work. A Rhode Island native, Ms. Aldous grew up in Florida. She earned her law degree from Barry University’s Dwayne O. Andreas School of Law in Orlando in 2002, where she participated in Moot Court. She received a Bachelor’s Degree in English from the University of Central Florida in Orlando in 1998. Ms. Aldous and her husband have been married for 18 years and have lived in North Carolina since 2005. The couple have a son and a daughter with whom they enjoy exploring the outdoors, sporting events and spending time with family and friends.
